Scrumptious Extreme Eateries in Ohio

Ohio Extreme Treats

There is a plethora of Ohio Extreme Treats to tantalize your taste buds and fill your belly. 2020 has been the year of extremes, so I thought we’d embrace that word with a positive twist. Big, crazy food has become quite the rage throughout America, and for good reason. The WOW effect it has on people as it is served up keeps people coming back for more. It’s become a reason to travel. Not only are these Ohio extreme treats a cool sight, they taste delicious too.

Joy House Coffee

Super charge your day by starting it with a very large, Sundae Latte at Joy House Coffee. This creamy, warm drink is served up right with whipped topping, chocolate drizzle, sprinkles and a cherry on top. This adorable coffee shop welcomes you with comfy chairs, tasty homemade treats, and locally made goods. They very often have fresh flowers from Bramble Run Farm available, so you can take home a fresh bouquet after having a phenomenal drink.

I haven’t had everything on the menu, but I have also tried their Lavender Latte and it was a very light, refreshing flavor that I just loved.

July is National Ice Cream Month

July is National Ice Cream Month. What a great excuse, as if we needed one, to indulge in an extreme shake. What is an extreme shake? It consists of your favorite shake topped with cheesecake, cotton candy, cookies, cake, or any other sweet concoction the local creamery has created.

Extreme Creamery

The Extreme Creamery has seven different shakes to choose between. Strawberry Extreme (their most popular), Peanut Butter, Cookie Monster, Birthday Cake, Death by Chocolate, Cinnamon Roll and Toasted S’mores are the varieties that will make your decision so hard. Maybe you’ll want to try a different one for each day of the week.

They also offer rolled ice cream. It’s not as extreme, but it’s a neat process to watch and always tasty.

Terry’s Grocery and Pizza

Out in the middle of nowhere, you might wonder how this family run store has stayed in business for over 40 years. Well, all you have to do is try their shakes or take one bite of their pizza and the answer will become obvious. When looking for an Ohio extreme treat, this is a no brainer. Their menu of 19 crazy shakes include Brownie, Cookie, Red Velvet, Buckeye, Princess, S’mores, Peanut Butter Lover, Birthday, Strawberry, Caramel, Donut, Orange, Dirt Road, Dino Mountain, Cotton Candy, Mermaid, Sour, Over the Rainbow, Unicorn, Candy Bar and Lemon Drop. Decisions, decisions.

A few tips for visiting.

  • Be prepared to wait. A half hour wait is no big deal. Lines have been known to wrap around the building for a wait time in excess of two hours.
  • Bring lawn chairs. There are a few picnic tables, but they fill up often. There is a nice lawn area for relaxing.
  • Bring baby wipes. These shakes can get very messy and sometimes napkins just don’t do the job.
  • Plan to have pizza and ice cream. They are both amazing. We had buffalo chicken pizza and it was delicious.
  • Order your pizza inside and then wait on it to cook while you stand in the ice cream line.

Inside the gas station drinks can be purchased. There is also a deli and fresh produce for sale.

Many passions fill my life but my family, friends and travel top the list by far. Combining them, or at least two of the three, makes it even better! I love being home and working in my garden but the urge to see and experience something new is always bubbling to the top. I love the researching part of planning a trip almost as much as the actual experience. I also like the challenge of seeing what kind of deals I can get so money is left over for even more trips!
